Percentage of eligible pay
Eligible pay × bonus percentage ÷ 100. For example, $60,000 annual pay at 10% gives a $6,000 gross bonus.
Estimate a gross bonus from eligible pay, a fixed amount, a target and achievement, or a known bonus. You can also enter your own withholding rate for a separate after-withholding estimate.
Use the pay period your employer's plan uses. This calculator keeps annual, monthly and other stated periods distinct and does not convert between them.

Choose one calculation method and enter the values it needs. You can copy the current result or reset all entries.
A bonus calculator applies a selected method to the amount and percentage values you enter. Employer bonus plans set their own definitions of eligible earnings, targets, timing and eligibility.
Eligible pay × bonus percentage ÷ 100. For example, $60,000 annual pay at 10% gives a $6,000 gross bonus.
The entered fixed amount is displayed as gross bonus before withholding.
Target bonus × achievement percentage ÷ 100. A target can pay below or above 100% when the plan permits.
Known bonus ÷ eligible pay × 100. Eligible pay must be greater than zero.
Gross bonus is the amount before payroll withholding and deductions. If you provide a withholding percentage, the calculator multiplies the gross bonus by that rate and subtracts the estimate. Withholding is not the same as final tax owed, so your actual payroll payment may differ.
Estimated withholding = gross bonus × user-entered rate ÷ 100. Estimated bonus after withholding = gross bonus − estimated withholding.
These examples show the arithmetic only. A plan may define eligible pay, targets and achievement differently.
Eligible annual pay: $60,000
Bonus rate: 10%
$60,000 × 10 ÷ 100 = $6,000 gross bonus
Target bonus: $5,000
Achievement: 120%
$5,000 × 120 ÷ 100 = $6,000 gross bonus
Gross bonus: $6,000
Entered withholding: 20%
$6,000 − ($6,000 × 20 ÷ 100) = $4,800 estimated after withholding
Answers to common questions about eligible pay, bonus percentages and withholding estimates.
A bonus calculator estimates a gross bonus from eligible pay and a percentage, a fixed bonus amount, target bonus and achievement, or a known bonus and eligible pay.
Multiply the eligible salary amount by the bonus percentage and divide by 100. For example, $60,000 × 10 ÷ 100 = a $6,000 gross bonus. Make sure the pay period matches the basis used by the plan.
Gross bonus is the bonus amount before payroll withholding, taxes, benefits, or other deductions.
Yes. A bonus rate can exceed 100% when a plan allows it. This calculator does not cap the bonus percentage or target achievement at 100%.
Multiply the target bonus amount by the achievement percentage and divide by 100. For example, a $5,000 target at 120% achievement gives a $6,000 gross estimate.
No. Its optional withholding estimate applies only the rate you enter. It does not apply a country's tax rules or provide tax advice.
Payroll withholding is an amount withheld during payment, while final tax liability depends on the applicable rules and a person's complete tax situation. They may not match.
Yes. Choose Fixed bonus and enter the fixed gross amount. The calculator displays that entered amount as gross bonus.
